“You’re the baller. Aren’t you used to
figuring out how to make a comeback even
when things are looking down?”
He snorted out a laugh and shook his head
at me. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
I grinned at him. “I don’t know that much
about sports, but I know that if we want to
make it we have to think we can win.”

The weather was changing. With the darkness
came the cold. We decided to stay at the
campsite for the night. The building had a
small hallway leading to each restroom’s door.
We figured we could sleep in the hallway—it
was better than sleeping outside.
The five of us crammed into the small
hallway together. “I’m cold, sis,” Blake
whispered. I motioned for him to slide closer.
Colby was on the other side of him. “Don’t
take your body heat away from me,” he said,
sliding closer too.
We didn’t have a blanket, but we did have
clothes from our suitcases that we draped
