“Baby, what are you doing?” Gonzalo muttered.
When Sasha and her crew hit the Coliseum floor, they
headed straight for Zeus. The girls walked on the mattresses.
They stormed toward the man in the gas mask, stepping over
sleeping people, stepping
on
some of them by accident. The
closer they got to the man in the mask, the more the sleep-
ing Thunder seemed to notice. They lifted their heads off the
beds to glare at Sasha and the others.
Gonzalo’s anxiety rose as Sasha cut through the inner circle
of girls and finally reached Zeus. She stood over him and stuck
her finger in his face, an inch from his gas mask. The affront
created an agitated ripple through the surrounding Thunder.
“Get outta there, girl,” Gonzalo said softly.
Sasha kept wagging her finger in Zeus’s face. She was giving
him a piece of her mind. It made Gonzalo anxious. Zeus stood
up to face Sasha. She gave him an angry push. The drumming
stopped dead, and all the Thunder across the entire expan-
sive mattress jumped to their feet. The standing crowd swal-
lowed up his view of Sasha.
Gonzalo’s stomach dropped. He charged forward, bound-
ing over rows of seats until he reached the walkway of the
next level down. He ran to the nearest stairs. He pulled the
shotgun to his shoulder, and his finger found the trigger. He
prayed that he wouldn’t have to kill anybody.
Thunder boys and girls sat on the stairs below him. Gonzalo
barreled past them, knowing they were watching him now. He
