You will need to cook
in direct sunlight with the
flap facing the sun. A fairly
warm outside temperature
of 75°F (24°C) or higher is
recommended. Have an adult
help you when cooking.

Takeaway
In a solar oven, sunlight is reflected by the aluminum foil into the oven.
The light is absorbed by the black paper, converted to heat, and trapped
inside the oven by the plastic window. In ideal conditions, this solar oven
can heat up to about 160°F to 200°F (
7
1°C to
9
3°C).
10
Use your pencil to prop up the solar
oven’s lid at about a 90-degree angle
from the rest of the box. Tape the
pencil in place.

Your solar oven is ready to cook! You can
make s’mores, nachos, and more! Lift the
pizza box’s original lid to put your food
inside the oven. Use an aluminum pie tin
or a piece of aluminum foil as a tray for
the oven.
