Martin Brodeur - page 9

Brodeur,
center
, waves to fans at a Stanley Cup victory
celebration in New Jersey on June 28, 1995.
New Jersey faced the Detroit RedWings in the
Final. The RedWings had the best record in the NHL
that year. They were the favourites to win the Cup.
They won 12 of their first 14 playoff games. They had
many stars, such as Sergei Fedorov.
Brodeur was just 22 years old. But he was not
scared. And it showed in his play. Brodeur did not let
the high-powered RedWings score more than two
goals in any game. His teammates knew they could
win with him in the net. New Jersey shocked the
RedWings. The Devils swept the series. The Cup was
theirs for the first time.
