Sometimes more detail is needed to decide if the
story is worth turning into a movie. A longer version of
a treatment is a screenplay. This screenplay may be
rewritten many times before it
becomes a movie.
Finally, the idea reaches the
point of calling a “green-light”
meeting. In this meeting, a
Hollywood studio decides
whether to make the movie—to
give it the “green light,” or
go-ahead to start filming. There
may be 30 or 40 people at one
of these meetings. They must
consider the business side of
the project equally or more
than the creative side. How
much will the movie cost to
make? Where will it be filmed?
