Airplanes must follow another set of
SAFETY IN THE AIR
The first airplane flight took place in 1903.
At first, there were no rules for flying.
Accidents were common. In 1926, the United
States passed laws about flying to keep
people safe. Later, the Federal Aviation
Agency (FAA) was created. The FAA makes
rules for flying in the United States. Other
countries have rules for airplanes, too.
