kinds of wildlife, and as the warming continues, the effects on
wildlife will likely grow more severe. How many of these species
will be able to survive such drastic changes is unknown, but there
is strong evidence that many will not. Scientists fear numerous
species will become extinct as their habitats degrade and disap-
pear. Researchers continue to aggressively study climate change
to monitor its effects on wildlife habitats and to investigate possi-
ble ways of mitigating the damage. At this point, what is unknown
is far greater than what is known.
