appointed to the prestigious position of captain of the cadets in which
he oversaw a forty-five-man platoon. By this time Donald was 6 feet 2
inches (188 cm) tall and wore an aura of authority with his full dress
uniform and white gloves.
Donald graduated in May 1964 but had no intention of pursu-

thousands of young men were being drafted into the military. Donald
decided to go to college, which meant he could avoid the draft as long
as he remained in school. He chose to attend Fordham University in
the Bronx so he could live at home and commute to school in his red
Austin-Healey sports car.
The Trump family home (pictured) in the exclusive Jamaica
Estates neighborhood of Queens, New York, boasted
twenty-three rooms. Household affairs were carried out by
a staff that included a cook, a maid, and a chauffeur.
