backed away from the heat.
“I have a story to tell you,” Old
Donny said in a low voice.
Chase shivered. “I’m scared.
And I haven’t even heard it
yet,” he said to his best friends,
Nelly and Will, who were sitting
next to him.
“You should be scared,”
croaked Old Donny, who had a
way of overhearing everything.
“You should all be scared,”
added Maude. Old Donny’s
creepy wife took her husband’s
thin, pale hand in her own.
“Darling,” she said. “Tell the
kids what they need to know.”
