On the Other Side of the Wall
I am trapped! I can feel the wall in front of me—there are no
exits. I bang on it a few times, hurting my hand, and I

even though I don’t believe anyone will hear me.
“Is there someone on the other side? Troop! Come help
me! I’m here!”

I’m trying not to think about where

is.
My efforts are pointless. I have the
uncomfortable
feeling of being separated from my friends by more than just
a rock wall.
Feeling along the wall, my fingers graze something
engraved in the stone
. I don’t need to shine my flash-
light on it to know what it is. My fingers read the

that,
written in a hurry, so many could confuse with an
X
.
