Boom! A crash of thunder follows a flash of lightning. Bel the
Weather Girl and her cousin Dylan are having a slumber party, but
now he’s hiding under the covers! Bel tells Dylan that thunderstorms
aren’t so scary once you understand them. Will Dylan’s fear of the

storm rain on their sleepover?

Belinda Jensen is chief meteorologist for the NBC station in Minneapolis
and St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked for the National Weather Service
and has been a broadcast meteorologist for twenty-six years, first
in Salt Lake City, Utah, and then in Minnesota. She has been visiting
classrooms and educating children about the weather throughout
her career. As a child, she was fascinated by science. Today, she is
passionate about inspiring children to learn more about weather, which
can help ease the fear many experience during storms.
