Gods and Goddesses
G
I shall of course turn into the god Osiris when I die. Below you can
meet some other gods. They are all depicted in different ways.
RA
is the god of
the sun. He has
a falcon’s head
surrounded by
a great disc,
which represents
the sun. He is
known as Atum
in the evening
and Khepri in the
morning. Very
complicated.
Khepri is depicted
as a scarab or
dung beetle.
SEKHMET
is
Ptah’s powerful
lion-headed wife.
She destroyed
the enemies
of their son,
Nefertum. She
turned on the
enemies of Ra,
the sun god too.
I always give
her expensive
offerings such as
hippo meat.
PTAH
created
the world just
by thinking and
talking. Imagine
that! He holds a
rod because he
is the patron god
of craftsmen,
which means he
protects them. He
does not need any
protection himself
because he has a
fearsome wife.
HORUS
is the
god of the sky
and looks like
a falcon. I
really like Horus
because he is
the protector of
pharaohs. Many
people believe
that a pharaoh
is Horus. I like
that idea.
