Powerful Words
Many stories over the centuries have told of cursed
people, places, or things. For those who believe in curses,
the words carry power to promise harm, sickness, bad
luck, or even death. The threats and warnings curses
contained scared people out of making bad choices.
Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs as their
writing system. There were often curses carved
into the limestone of buildings and landmarks
that warned great harm would come to thieves.
