Drawbacks to the Invention
The car brought important advancements and improved the quality
of life of many Americans. But it came with drawbacks. Every year, nearly
30 billion hours are wasted commuting to and from work. Over 30,000
people in the United States die in traffic accidents every year. And, according
to scientists, almost 30 percent of all carbon pollution emitted into our
atmosphere comes from the transportation sector, which includes the
gas-guzzling car. Yet, there is good news. Cars are evolving, and soon
these will be problems of the past.
