          Every October lighthouse lovers gather
          in Alpena, Michigan, for the Great Lakes
          Lighthouse Festival. Four days of events—
          tours, cruises, exhibits—bring lighthouse
          fans from all over the country to enjoy
          themselves, learn about lighthouses, and
          help preserve these historic buildings.

          Communities and organizations on the
          Great Lakes offer an array of festivals
   E is for Elevation  celebrating lighthouses and the area’s
          rich maritime heritage. Among them are:
