Lincoln. The ghost of the president, assassinated in 1865, is be-
lieved by some to roam the halls of the White House in Washing-
ton, DC.
In the 1920s Grace Coolidge, the wife of then US president Cal-
vin Coolidge, claimed to have seen Lincoln’s apparition staring out a
White House window. Other notables of the time who said they had
witnessed Lincoln’s ghost in the White House were Queen Wilhelmi-
na of the Netherlands; First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s maid Mary
Eban; and Winston Churchill, the prime minister of Great Britain.
In more recent times Maureen Reagan, the daughter of former
US president Ronald Reagan, and her husband, Dennis Revell,
President Abraham Lincoln (pictured) was assassinated shortly after the end of the
Civil War. Since then many people, including the daughter and son-in-law of President
Ronald Reagan, have reported encountering Lincoln’s ghost in the White House.
