plastic bags, or glossy magazines.

ometimes surfaces are dusted with
special chemicals to uncover latent
prints. These chemicals are usually in
powder form and are brushed over the surface believed
to contain fingerprints. The powder sticks to the friction
ridges of the print. In some cases, the powder also makes
the prints glow under an alternate light source.
Nonporous
items suspected of containing prints are
often placed in a small, enclosed glass or plastic cham-
