Otherwise, the print could be destroyed before it gets to
the lab. Fingerprints on a door or other large itemmight
be lifted instead. To lift a print, the CSI first dusts the
print with fingerprint powder. Then a piece of tape is
pressed on it and pulled away. Ideally, the fingerprint
powder will stick to the tape. But sometimes the print
is destroyed in the process of lifting.
