at lunch or a group of friends to hang with at recess. I’m going to

be the girl who gets the tea on all the text threads, is squeezed
in for all the kissy fish-face selfies, and never misses a sleepover
or trip to the mall. I’m going to be Angie Larson: Popular Girl,

and not arms-waved-in-her-face, lunch-box-tossed-on-the-floor,
smeller-of-stinky-egg-farts “Anna.”
Everyone is going to know my name—starting with the
coolest girl at Little River Middle School.
Ms. Jackson partnered me with the Olivia Hart—dance kid

extraordinaire—for our science project. The ticket to my upgrade
in status.
My life is about to change.
