About the Author and I l lustrator
Joanne Mattern
is the author of many
nonfiction books for children. She enjoys
writing about animals, history, and famous
people while bringing history to life for young
readers. Joanne lives in New York State with
her husband, four children, and several pets.
Scott R. Brooks
started a career in full-time
illustration several years ago. Scott shares his
Atlanta, GA studio with his illustrator wife,
Karen. They share their home with their 2
clever children, and their somewhat less clever
dog and cat.
