Spreading Across Asia
Beginning in the first century ce, merchants and sailors
introduced Buddhism to other parts of Southeast Asia. It
gained popularity in what are present-day Myanmar,
Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. During the next several
centuries, people also started practicing Buddhism in China,
Korea, Japan, and Tibet.
The Golden Pavilion is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan.
