The exoplanet is known as Proxima b. It is
closer to Proxima Centauri than Mercury is to
the sun. But Proxima Centauri is a small star that
glows red. The red color means it is not as hot as
the sun. Therefore, Proxima b orbits in Proxima
Centauri’s habitable zone. The temperature on
Scientists do not yet know what Proxima b looks like, but
this image shows one idea of how its surface might look.
