“Oh, sorry, Mr. Luke,” Zahra said. “It’s just
so nice to see Brisket off of social media! You’ve
been on lots of good bimbles there in America,
haven’t you?”
I put my front paws on the desk and panted.
I missed London a lot—especially living near
Zahra. But I did get to take lots of good walks—
or bimbles, as we used to call them—here in our
new city. We had so many great smells. I loved
taking them all in.
“So, what’s new?” Luke asked. “How’s life?
“Well,” Zahra said. “I’ve been dying to tell
you. Rufus got a dog. Can you believe that?
And it looks just like you—except huge. It’s an
Airedale Terrier. They rescued it from the same
place where Luke adopted you—the R.S.P…?”
“…C.A.?” Luke said.
“That’s right,” Zahra said. “But guess what
they named it?”
Luke and I were silent. I sat down straight.
