running mate—a candidate running for a lower-rank position on an election
ticket, especially the candidate for vice president.
syllable—a word or part of a word pronounced as a unit with one sound.
tuition (tuh-WIH-shuhn)—money students pay to attend a school.
Vietnam War—from 1954 to 1975. A long, failed attempt by the United
States to stop North Vietnam from taking over South Vietnam.
