He may be the greatest shooter in NBA history, as he holds the
record for most career three-pointers and the most three-pointers
made in a single season. He also holds the Golden State War-
riors’ all-time team record for points and assists, and he is the
only player in NBA history to be unanimously selected for the
               MVP Award.

But there is more to his game than the flashy creativity and
long-range shooting skills fans see during the games. Like most
superstar athletes with long careers, Curry works hard at his sport
all year round when there are no cameras or screaming fans any-
where in sight. He and his trainer, Brandon Payne, come up with
a long list of running and shooting drills that Curry works through
during the season and in the off-season.
In fact, he is considered one of the hardest-working athletes
in his profession. For example, he takes around two thousand
jump shots every week and has been doing that and more since
he was a child. “He enjoys it so much and he loves the process.
That’s one of the things that ties all great athletes together,”
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr says of his remarkable
point guard. “There’s a routine that not only is super-disciplined,
but it’s really enjoyed each day. There’s a passion that comes
with it, and that’s what sustains it over time. When you love
something like those guys do, you work at it, you get better and
               you just keep going.” 2

               Having a Desire to Succeed
               and the Support of Others

Along with putting in countless hours of practice and enjoying the
rewards that endeavor brings, Curry and most superstar athletes
also have a shared mental approach to their sports. They have a
toughness and confidence that matches their physical strength
and skill. They start with a burning desire to be the best in their
sport and a belief that they can indeed become a superstar. As
