Trump to participate in a personality profi le. He was eager to coop-
erate. Th e story, headlined “Donald Trump, Real Estate Promoter,
Builds Image and He Buys Buildings,” ran on November 1 and pre-
sented Trump in a very favorable light. In the article, reporter Judy
Klemestrud wrote that “he is tall, lean and blond, with dazzling white
teeth, and he looks ever so much like [actor] Robert Redford. He rides
around town in a chauff eured silver Cadillac with his initials, DJT, on
the plates. He dates slinky fashion models, belongs to the most elegant
clubs and, at only 30 years of age, estimates that he is worth ‘more than
14
$200 million.’”
Anyone who knew Donald Trump during his early years would not
have been surprised by Klemestrud’s article. Trump fell in love with
Manhattan during his teenaged escapades to Times Square and was
strongly focused on making real estate deals when most of his peers
were protesting and partying. As a third-generation real estate devel-
oper, Trump had become everything he dreamed of in high school: a
rich and famous jet-setter who was on his way to the top.
