a member of a nonprofessional team called Cereal Killers that kept
losing to a better team known as Dog Company. One day, Mussel-
man went online and saw the Dog Company leader Casey “OpTic
KR3W” Barton playing another member of his team. Calling himself
Willy Jones, Musselman jumped into the game. He remembers:

They were playing on a map called Vossenack. It’s a very
small map, usually used when players wanted to settle a
1v1 [one-on-one] sniper challenge. Once I saw them in
there, I pulled out a sniper rifl e and just started tearing
them apart. That got their attention, so I asked Casey if
they were holding tryouts. It was kind of a joke at fi rst, but
he was cool about it. He said, “If you can beat us, you can
join.” So I started beating them, and as promised, they
invited me to join the team. 11
