Laws are changing to correct this
injustice
. In Ontario, the Pay Equity Act
makes sure that women and men are paid the same amount for equal jobs.
The Government of Canada also has a Pay Equity Task Force. This group helps
end pay
discrimination
for women. In addition to gender equity, the group
helps Indigenous Peoples and people with disabilities earn fair pay for the work
they do.
In 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau participated in an effort to have equal
pay not just in Canada, but around the world.
