                           BLACK SOLDIERS AND

                                  DISCRIMINATION

he First and Second World Wars are recognized each year

in Canada. While retelling our country’s role in pivotal
Tbattles, the contributions of Black Canadians has been

                   untold and ignored.

Black soldiers did have roles in Canada’s earliest wars

including the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the
Rebellions of 1837-38. When British colonies rebelled in 1775,

the British promised freedom to Black slaves who fought

against the rebels. Some Black Loyalists chose to settle
                   in Canada.
