In the 2010s, the state of New Mexico built Spaceport America
to serve Virgin Galactic and other space tourism businesses.
Located in a desert called the Jornada del Muerto in southern
New Mexico, the spaceport has a runway, a hangar, training
facilities, and a terminal. It is ready for flights as soon as Virgin
Galactic is ready to launch Unity.
Spaceport Tucson is under construction in Arizona. World View
Enterprises will operate the site and launch its tourist balloons
there. Arizona’s Pima County owns the spaceport. Blue Origin
owns and runs a private spaceport in Van Horn, Texas.
