brick tunnel that seemed to go on for miles.
Moisture glistened on the walls around them.
With only the small lantern for light, they set
off down the tunnel.
“What is this place
?
” muttered Reg.
“Goodnessknows,” saidUncleBert. “London
is littered with catacombs and subterranean
spaces.” He paused when he noticed Reg
looking at himwith a confused frown. “That’s
an underground passage. From the brickwork,
I’d say this was built for one of the Victorian
churches in the area.”
“Fascinating,” said Lottie. “What for
