“Because I think we are looking for the
hoard of Boudicca,” said Uncle Bert. “Legend
has it that it is stored somewhere around—
or under—London. Many have searched, but
none have found it.”
“Who’s that, then
?
” asked Reg.
Uncle Bert smiled. He always loved the
chance to show off his knowledge of history.
“Boudicca was the Queen of the Iceni, a
tribe in the East of England. When her husband
died, the Romans took over her lands. She led
a rebellion against the Romans and marched
to London with her army. It was poorly
defended, and Boudicca and her army killed
over seventy thousand people.”
