RYANDALTON

                    “Found it!” Asha called.
Malcolm joined them. The holographic display showed
what looked like a sphere inside a rushing stream. Inside the
sphere, he could just discern the outline of a valley and an in-
                dustrial facility.
                    “That’s Corday’s regeneration bubble?”
“Yes,” Asha said. “It appears to span a full day.”
“Mal,” Valentine said, her eyes haunted, “look at the date.”
Malcolm saw the day Corday had chosen to hide in. He felt
sick in the pit of his stomach. “Oh, man. That’s the day after
                we fought Lucius.”
She nodded. “I remember the plant being out of commission
because no one had any power. We thought it was because of
what Lucius did . . . but maybe it wasn’t.”
“The Frost Hammer used the chaos to her advantage.” For
some reason, this made Malcolm even angrier. As if those days
weren’t painful enough, now we have to go back there and ˆght
                again.
“Plan quickly,” Asha urged. “The Ember Guard should
                arrive any second.”
“Jump to that day, then ‹nd a way inside the bubble?”
                Valentine suggested.
“We’ve never done that before, and I don’t know how,”
Malcolm said. “Could we go back a few days before she did
this? Stop her before she creates it?”
Asha’s ‹ngers £ew over her keyboard. She smacked her
‹st on the console. “Daotan! The Frost Hammer is clever. She
managed to anchor her loop, so going back before will not pre-
                vent its creation.”
“What does that mean?” Valentine asked.
“The loop here in Everwatch is anchored, meaning it’s a
