world, he was doing things other players couldn’t,
and he became a fan favorite all over the world. He
was elected to start in the All-Star Game for the first
time in 2017, and two years later he received the most
votes of any Eastern Conference player from fans.
That made him a captain of one of the teams, along
with James.
By then Antetokounmpo was one of the NBA’s most
dominant players and had helped turn the Bucks into
one of its most dangerous teams. Milwaukee went
on to put up the league’s best record for the 2018–19
season at 60–22, and he was the only player in the
league to average 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.
He had eye-popping stats like 17-for-21 shooting for
43 points in one game, and 27 points and 21 rebounds
in another. And of the five Eastern Conference
Player of the Month awards given out that season,
Antetokounmpo won four.
The good times continued in the playoffs, as
Antetokounmpo led the Bucks all the way to the
conference finals. He led the team in points, rebounds,
assists, and blocks per game, while tying for the team
lead in steals per game.
The NBA, sensing what was to come, had scheduled
the Bucks to play on Christmas that season for the first
