BATTERIES

                                                        batteries. Batteries store energy.

                                            E There are many types of batteries.

                                            But most batteries have a few things in

                                            common. Each type uses a set of chemicals and


                                            metals to store energy in the form of electricity.

                                            Batteries have two parts called electrodes. One

                                            has a positive charge. The other has a negative

                                            charge. Chemical reactions cause electrons to


                                            move between the electrodes. An electron is a

                                            negatively charged particle. This movement is

                                            called electricity.


                                                  Some batteries are used only once.


                                            The electrons flow in one direction. The

                                            chemical reaction stops when both sides


                                            Volkswagen displayed the battery of its e-Up! electric
                                            car at an event in Berlin, Germany, in 2014.
