AI AND HEALTH CARE
rtificial intelligence has been involved in
Ahealth care for decades. Doctors have been
using AI to diagnose patients since the 1980s.
Expert systems are a form of AI that make
decisions about patient care. Programmers give
these systems a knowledge base of medical facts.
The systems interpret and evaluate those facts to
provide a diagnosis. But AI is useful for more than
diagnostics.
A surgeon directs the da Vinci surgical system to
perform surgery in 2019.
