Rivals Since 1960
They called Eddie LeBaron the Little General. He was short
for a football player. He stood 5-foot-7 (1.70 m). But he was
also a war hero. He fought in the Korean War (1950–1953).
He received awards for bravery.
LeBaron played pro football when he returned. He was
a quarterback. And he played on both sides of the rivalry.
He played for the Redskins in the 1950s. But he was a
Cowboy on October 9, 1960. That was the first meeting of
the teams. It was the Cowboys’ first season.

as a US Marine
during the
Korean War.
