The Cowboys expected to win. Coach Tom Landry
bragged before the game. He said his quarterback was
better than Kilmer. But Kilmer had a great game. He
completed 14 of 18 passes. He threw two touchdowns.
Redskins kicker Curt Knight made four field goals. He
drilled a 45-yarder to finish off the game. Washington won
26–3. The crowd cheered. They poured onto the field
to celebrate.
The game added to the rivalry. But there were many
more exciting moments to come.
