A MISSING RIVER
A
group of scientists traveled to the Slims
River in Canada in 2017. But when they
arrived, the ground was mostly dry. The
river was just a trickling stream. They hiked
where the river was supposed to be flowing.
Then they called a helicopter to pick them up.
They flew upstream and found that the Slims
River had been cut off from its water source.
The river used to get water from the
nearby Kaskawulsh Glacier. The glacier would
melt each spring. Water from it would flow into
