                         There are many reasons mutations


                      occur. Some people are born with missing


                      genes. This happens when a mistake is



                      made during DNA replication. Sometimes



                      mutations happen as people age. Genes


                      can also be affected by environmental


                      factors. Exposure to harmful chemicals can



                      change how genes function. Many of these



                      changes can lead to disease. Mapping a


                      person’s genome can help doctors find the
