Some outlets make biased stories without

even realizing it. Even if they don’t mean to,

writing stories in a slanted way is still a form

of bias. Since media bias can creep into

any story, where people get their news can

make a big difference in what they learn.

                        CAUSES OF MEDIA BIAS

Many things can cause media outlets to
have biased stories. For instance, the news
                        organization’s owner could play a role. A

company may be more conservative or liberal. It

may prefer stories that match those viewpoints.
Stories can also become slanted if they seek to
                        please a specific audience.

Workforce diversity can also play a role in

bias. Having a diverse group of reporters could
help the news organization. It could make sure
the stories don’t all slant in a certain direction.
