Rosa McCauley was born in
Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1913. When
Rosa was young, whites and blacks
were segregated. They went to
separate schools. Rosa saw the new
brick school built for white students.
Her school was a one-room shack.
White kids rode buses to school.
Black kids had to walk. She knew
this was unfair.
Rosa McCauley is born.
