Laquan McDonald was seventeen when he was killed by Chicago
police in 2014. When a video was released in 2015 showing
that Laquan was walking away when he was shot and killed,
protesters took to the streets to demand justice for his death.

Black Lives Matter supporters held peaceful protests
across the US. They were often met with force. Police officers

threw tear gas into crowds. They shot rubber bullets at
protesters. The First Amendment protects the right to protest.
However, some protesters are arrested for violating curfew or
blocking traffic.

NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt to protest police
violence against Black people . What other nonviolent ways
