2 First Fairs
Fairs date back to ancient times. Historical
texts mention fairs that took place more than
2,000 years ago. They were often organized
by religious groups. People came from far
away to attend. They spent days on the road.
They packed large amounts of food and
many supplies for the trip. They often traded
or sold some of their belongings at the fair.
