Inuits use their kayaks to fish
Survival
The Inuit of the Arctic invented a closed-cockpit
kayak. Covering the top, or cockpit, of the kayak
with animal skin stopped the water getting in.
Sport
In the 19th century, Briton,
John MacGregor made
canoeing a popular sport
in Europe and the USA. He
designed a kayak similar to
the one used by the Inuit.
