SURVIVAL GEAR

                 Most of the Titanic’s lifeboats were 30-foot-long (9 m)
wooden rowboats. Each of these boats could hold sixty-five
people. There were also four smaller collapsible lifeboats on

board. But two of these boats were still folded on the roof
of the officers’ quarters as the Titanic began to sink. They
fell into the ocean before passengers could boardthem.
