The Accordion File
How it works:
Accordion files are great because they keep everything sorted and
don’t require a three-hole punch. Depending on how many you use and how full they
are, they can be less bulky and fit in a backpack more easily than three-ring binders.
Using accordion files also eliminates the need for additional pocket folders. It’s best to
use a flap-top accordion file that closes securely with Velcro or an elastic band.
For each class, papers are sorted into the following five sections , and each one gets
a tab in your accordion file. (
The Right Sort
, on page 34, will explain what each
section is for.)
In addition to these five, feel free to make other custom tabs for each class,
like a Vocab section for English or a Lab section for biology.
