Page 8 - How to Be a Difficult Bitch: Claim Your Power, Ditch the Haters, and Feel Good Doing It
P. 8
Difficult Bitch means different things to people with different
backgrounds and identities from mine, so I can’t write this
book by myself. Some awesome, diverse women will be
joining me. Being a Difficult Bitch is a community effort. I’m
so honored that these women are contributing their voices.
Let’s get started.
Hi! My name is SHARON PRUITT-YOUNG. I’m here
throughout this book for all the Black girls, boys, and
nonbinary folks out there. In a world of hypervisiblity
and respectability politics, you might not feel like you can
be a Difficult Bitch in the same way as other folks—so
let’s work through it together. If I can do it, so can you.
Hi! I’M MARY FERNANDEZ, Colombian immigrant, activist,
fashion addict, and soon-to-be first blind woman MBA
graduate from Duke University’s business school. As a
Latinx and disabled woman, I can say that my people are
fabulous, bold, courageous, and beautiful. And we are here
to stay!
Hi! My name is ZARA HANAWALT. I’m the only child of two
immigrants from India and am passionate about breaking
down stereotypes. I believe in embracing diversity in
all its forms and love that this book is giving minority
women some much-needed representation.
