looking at me.
Of course they are. I’m the new kid. When
Eli Parish started at our school this year, everyone
looked at him, too.

school acts like you’re invisible.
Invisischool
is different from actually being
invisible. Though I’ve been invisible before, too.
When you’re on a genie assignment, the only
person who can see you is the one who rubbed
the bottle.
Back at Pinemont Elementary, everyone can
see me, but they don’t care. They don’t talk to me.
They don’t invite me to sit with them at lunch or
pick me to be on their team in gym. Sometimes
they talk about me like I’m not standing right
there next to them. It’s like I don’t matter at all. I
