Albertine Lapensée was one of the


                       league’s biggest stars. She often scored


                       six goals in one game. Once, she scored


                       15 goals.


                          Women’s hockey was also growing


                       in the United States. In 1916, the


                       first international women’s hockey


                       tournament took place in Cleveland, Ohio.


                       Another tournament occurred in 1921.


                       In both events, Canadian and US teams


                       competed.


                          After World War I ended, the men


                       returned home. Women’s hockey became


                       less popular. Even so, women continued


                       to play hockey at a high level. For


                       example, the Preston Rivulettes became
